(Azusa) – Casey Spencer threw six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits as Azusa Pacific shut out Vanguard 7-0 Saturday to sweep a doubleheader. With the win the Cougars also completed a four-game sweep of Vanguard at the Cougar Baseball Complex.

Spencer, who played his high school ball at Arcadia, allowed only an infield single in the fifth and a bunt single in the sixth and that was it. He walked two and struck out six. Jake Vargas came on in relief and worked a perfect seventh inning to finish it off.

Azusa Pacific got one run in the second inning and another in the third before blowing it wide open in the fourth with four

In the third, Mikey Easter reached on an infield hit and eventually came around to score on an error on a ground ball by Antonio Lujan.

The Cougars then busted loose in the fourth. Jacob Freer singled and Frey doubled him home. Mikey Easter was hit by a pitch and then Lujan unloaded on a fastball that parked it somewhere near the drive-through at In N Out on Alosta. After the three-run shot it was suddenly 6-0 APU.
