Brooks issued a statement that said in part:

“My connection to Pasadena High School basketball began when I was eight years old at “Bulldog Camp.” Being a Bulldogs meant so much more than playing basketball. It meant developing a brotherhood among the players, it meant understanding the importance of being a true “student athlete”, and it meant striving for a goal that required a collective effort the amongst the team and sacrificing your own glory for the benefit of the team. “King D”.

My coaching has given me much fulfillment and value in my life. The friendships and relationships have added much to my family.

At this point it is time to look forward to the next phase of my life. I am thankful for all of the coaches that worked so hard. I am thankful for my beautiful wife Sherrie who was the best “coach’s wife” any coach could wish for. I would like to thank George Terzian, the coach who started it all. I would like to thank Bill Duwe for his guidance and mentorship, and I would like to thank Tim Tucker for his brotherly support. It has been an honor to be part of the legacy of Pasadena Basketball.

With this letter I am announcing my retirement from head coach at Pasadena Boys basketball.

God, Family, Dogs!!
