High School Football Top 20: Southeast Division

B.J. Lee and West Covina drop to number nine after falling to Covina

What did we learn after Zero Week?

How about that there are more questions than answers after the first set of games Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Muir was explosive and looked every bit a Southeast Division championship contender. Suburban League stalwarts La Mirada and Norwalk were brought down to reality with tough losses. Burbank and Rowland had to come from behind to get wins.  Is the Del Rio league that strong that they have two teams in the Top Six?

  1. Muir (1-0) – Outscore Matadors 40-7 in the second half.
  2. La Mirada (0-1) – Matadores stumble in opener against the Swordsman.
  3. Norwalk (0-1) – Lancers have Griffin nightmares after giving up 533 yards total offense.
  4. Burbank (1-0) – Win a wild one against Warren, 41-39.
  5. La Serna (1-0) – O.J. Medina scores two touchdowns enroute to 28-7 win against Bonita Vista.
  6. El Rancho (1-0) – The Ranch impressive in opener.
  7. Rowland (1-0) – After lackluster first half, Raiders score 28-unanswered points in win.
  8. Bonita (1-0) – “Smudge Pot” returns to La Verne and the city can now sleep.
  9. West Covina (0-1) – Gave up 19-points in the fourth quarter in upset loss.
  10. Arcadia (0-0) – Season gets underway against St. Francis on Friday.
  11. Diamond Ranch (0-1) – Panthers will learn from 56-0 loss.
  12. Walnut (0-0) – Begin the season against Troy on Friday.
  13. Santa Fe (0-0) – Can Chiefs defense hold Warren to less than 39 points?
  14. California (0-0) – Head into hostile Raider territory who still remember playoff loss last year.
  15. Crescenta Valley (0-0) – Begin the season with 210 Freeway rivalry with Verdugo Hills.
  16. Diamond Bar (1-0) – Brahmas already matched their win total from last year.
  17. Bellflower (1-0) – Have a good shot at being 2-0 after playing Los Altos.
  18. Mayfair (0-1) – Chino Hills intercepts Evan Hunko three times in win.
  19. Burroughs (0-1) – Drop physical contest late in the fourth quarter.
  20. Pasadena (0-1) – Tough night for Bulldogs in loss to Westchester.
