With several schools canceling their spring games this year including crosstown rival USC, there was a narrative that UCLA would do the same. But the Spring showcase is set for the Bruins on Saturday May 3.

UCLA will open spring football camp next Tuesday on April 1, no Aril Fool’s, which will be the beginning of 15 practices until camp concludes with the spring showcase at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on May 3.

Fourteen of the practices will be on campus, including 13 at the Wasserman Football Center.

One of the practices away from the Wasserman Football Center will be Friday Night Lights at Drake Stadium on April 17 at 7:00 p.m. Last year, the event drew 2,000 visitors, including hundreds of local and out-of-state recruits.

All other on-campus practices will begin at 8:30 a.m. Two of the practices, April 5 and 26 will be open to the public with an autograph session afterward.

UCLA will practice three days a week. The rest of the dates are scheduled for April 3, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 22, 24, 29 and May 1.

The Bruins are eager to get started as the they get set to enter their second year in the Big Ten and their second year under head coach DeShaun Foster. Last year they finished 5-7 overall and 3-6 in the Big Ten conference.

The bright spot for the UCLA faithful is that after starting the season 1-5 with the only victory coming over Hawaii, the Bruins won four of their last six including road wins over Nebraska and Rutgers.

Foster and the Bruins are ready to spring into action on April 1.
