Halo Happenings: 3/28/25

By Danny Delgado

The Angels dropped their opener in Chicago to the White Sox on Thursday, 8-1.

Starter Yusei Kikuchi went six, allowed just five hits, K’d 5, and walked none, but a three-run fifth by the Sox spoiled the show.

Reliever Ryan Johnson replaced Kikuchi in the seventh and got rocked for five runs in the eighth.

The Angels only had five hits and two walks. Catcher Logan O’Hoppe went two-for-four, including a solo blast in the top of the ninth.

The struggling Jo Adell made his debut in center and collected a hit.

Mike Trout and Jorge Soler were 0-for-6 at the plate.

In an odd schedule, the teams will have Friday off and return to the field on Saturday.

Notes: Breaking camp, the Halos gave outfielder Mickey Moniak the heave-ho following a difficult spring.

Pitcher Jose Suarez was shipped to Atlanta for Ian Anderson, who last pitched in the majors in 2022.

Reid Detmers moved to the bullpen, with Jack Kochanowicz claiming the rotation’s fifth spot.
