(Norwalk) – Norwalk survived Pasadena’s strong second half with a 42-34 victory Friday night at Norwalk High School.

Diego Cerritos and De’Ron Walker carried the load again for Norwalk combining for 341-yards and 6-touchdowns.

The Lancers got the ball first and Walker capped off an 80-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown.

After a three and out for the Bulldogs Norwalk went to Walker again. This time he got in from seven yards out to make it 14-0 late in the first.

Pasadena was forced to punt again and the Lancers would put it in the end zone with Walker on a four- yard burst to the end zone making it 21-0 early in the second quarter.

Bulldogs got on the board midway through the second quarter when quarterback Dutch Burbidge hit Kyle Robertson on a slant putting the score at 21-7.

Norwalk came right back two minutes later with a Cerritos one-yard dive to paydirt.

Pasadena got in the end zone again just before the half when Burbidge went to the air again and this time hit Damari Pitts and the score was 28-14 at halftime.

The Bulldogs turned the ball over on downs to start the second half after pressure from Jacob Baker, Miguel Urueta took down Burbidge.

Axel Bustamante tossed a pitch but nobody was home and Pasadena’s Daniel Freeman picked it up and took it 25-yards for the score making it 28-20 after a blocked PAT.

The Lancers extended their lead to 15 when Cerritos got in the end zone early in the fourth making it 35-20.

Pasadena needed just one play from freshmen Synncere Pitts – a 90-yard run to put them within nine after a missed two-point-conversion.

Cerritos led the way again down field and finished it off with a five-yard score with five minutes left in the game it was 42-26.

Burbidge got the Bulldogs in the end zone with just under two minutes left finding his favorite target Robertson. Burbidge also took in the two-point conversion making it one score game at 42-34.

Pasadena kicked an onside kick which looked like they recovered but an inadverdant whistle caused a redo and a Lancers recovery and victory after they were able to run out the clock.

Burbidge finished with three passing touchdowns. Synncere Pitts had two carries for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Cerritos finished wirh 172 yards on 33-carries and Walker added 169-yards on 16 carries and their six touchdowns.

Norwalk will stay home and face Venice next week while Pasadena will stay on the road and play Burroughs (Burbank).
