Temple City – For the first time in two years, the Temple City Rams played their first game at the newly renovated Bob Hitchcock Stadium on a cool Friday night. After the smoke and confetti settled, the Rams took care of business by blowing out the visiting Bosco Tech Tigers 45-14 in front of a rambunctious crowd for their first win of the 2025 campaign.
Senior running back Diego Rowe accounted for 154 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, and Sophomore quarterback Jacob Paredes completed 13-19 passing for 183 yards and two passing touchdowns.
“It feels great, it feels awesome. It feels great to be out here,” said Rowe after the game. “It feels amazing. The vibes are here.”
Temple City wasted no time getting the scoring onslaught started once they obtained possession of the ball midway through the first quarter. On their second play from scrimmage, Rowe took the toss and went the distance for the 30-yard touchdown. The Rams were up 8-0 after a successful 2-point conversion.
“It was amazing,” commented Rowe after he scored the game’s first TD. “My teammates are amazing. I have them to thank, and I’m just happy about the win.”
After a slew of turnovers by both teams, the Rams regained their momentum by scoring on back-to-back possessions at the start of the second quarter.
Starting on the Tigers’ side of the field, Temple City opened up the passing game with Paredes behind center as he completed a 27-yard pass to Jacob Deharo on the first play. After the completion and a five-yard run from Rowe, Deharo took the handoff and ran straight through the middle of Bosco’s front line for the 14-yard touchdown, giving his team a two-touchdown advantage with 1:04 remaining in the first period.
Then, after a quick three-and-out by the Tigers, the Rams only needed five plays to reach paydirt. Rowe carried the bulk of the work on the five-play drive as the Rams started the series with runs that totaled 25 yards. Then, after Rowe’s third carry of the drive for 18 yards, offensive linemen Nathan Martinez took the handoff and bulldozed his way into the endzone.
The Tigers finally retaliated on their next possession, scoring their first touchdown of the season. On the second play of the drive, Joshua Ortiz dropped back to pass and connected with CJ Davidson, running the post, who then took it 74 yards to the house. After a successful 2-point conversion, the Rams held a 22-8 lead at the 8:03 mark in the second.
Temple City then added 10 more points just before the half concluded. Antonio Velasquez booted a 37-yard field goal, then with 1:42 remaining, Paredes hooked up with Tristan Powell for a 24-yard touchdown to give the Rams a 32-8 lead.
The Rams were able to compile two more touchdown drives in the third quarter before a running clock started in the final period. Kenny Cai capped off a 7-play, 57-yard drive with his one-yard rushing score. Then Paredes tossed his second touchdown of the night when he found Christian Villegas for the easy score.
Finally, as time was expiring, Bosco’s Dallas Jauregui made the final score 45-14 when he took the handoff and reached the endzone.
“It feels great. I’m happy for the kids, happy for the boys, happy for the fans, and the community to come and see a win on the grand opening. When we started practicing on the field in September, the kids knew what it was going to be,” said Temple City Head Coach Riley Saxon. “With everything coming together, it was awesome to see the district and the community. It’s been two years since we had a home game. So for them to have their first home game…It was really awesome for them, and I think they knew they had to play well.”
With the win, the Rams will look to make it consecutive wins next Thursday when they host Azusa. Bosco Tech will look to end its 4-game losing streak when it travels to St. Genevieve.
