After a 35-10 loss to New Mexico Friday night, the UCLA Bruins have relieved Head Football Coach DeShaun Foster of his duties, effective immediately. Martin Jarmond, The Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics, accounced today.

In a statement from the team:

“I want to extend my sincere appreciation to DeShaun for his contributions to UCLA football of the course of many years, first as a Hall of Fame student-athlete, then as an assistant coach and finally as a head coach,” said Jarmond. “He was named to this role at a challenging time of year, on the cusp of a move to a new conference, and he embraced it, putting his heart into moving the program forward. His legacy and love for this university are firmly established. He is a Bruin for life, and we wish him, his wife, Charity and thier family the best.”

Foster’s contract will be honored by UCLA Athletics, exclusively using department-generated funds.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

My reading comprehension must have flown away several years ago. My first mistake was responding in the first place. My second drastic error was to get my information from the AI excerpt off of Google. Very lazy and sloppy on my part.
    Please accept my humble apologies.

I do know, however, that Roman Gabriel was the Head Football Coach at Cal Poly Pomona. No AI . I saw that one with my own eyes.
But alas, the Broncos didn’t win many games with him at the helm.
He was a very nice guy!

    @better. Not sure about your reading comprehension, but you supplied further evidence for my point;

    Chuck Noll played linebacker
Joe Paterno played quarterback at Brown
Nick Saban QB at West Virginia
    Belichik OL at Wesleyan
    Levy LB/DB at Coe

None of these illustrations coached played running back
Quarterbacks ,, offensive lineman and linebackers make up
The great majority of quality coaches

Chuck Noll, Bill Belicheck, Tom Flores, Steve Spurrier, Norm Van Brocklin, Anthony Lynn, Dan Reeves, Marv Levy, Joe Paterno, Nick Saban. . . I guess former Rbs and Qbs don’t make good head football coaches.

Foster very well maybe could’ve been a great coach one day, he needed time as a OC/DC, always a huge risk to go from position coach to HC, UCLA made a bad hire.

To compete you need to buy better players. UCLA does not spend like other schools.

The Bruin brain trust needs to understand that, unless their head coach is compensated well enough to buy an estate by the beach, it’s a no-go. Unfortunately, this is a government-owned and operated outfit, so the chances of that happening are slim.

I understand Foster is looking to join the staff at Montebello, because he has an affinity for the way Pete gets the most out of his crew.

This was a good move to minimize the adverse effects of a misguided hire . Running backs are rarely if ever good head coaches ( Dan Reeves , who was a quarterback in college) is the only one who comes to mind .
Rosemead would have done well to have done the same two years ago in a parallel high school situation; they might have averted the collapse
Which finds them celebrating a 7-6 squeaker over Basset ……
