Norwalk Stays Perfect

Norwalk’s Diego Cerritos earning some tough yards against Lynwood

The Norwalk Lancers relied on a steady ground attack and strong defensive play to secure a 25–6 victory over the Lynwood Knights Friday night at Norwalk High School.

Lynwood opened the game with the ball but was quickly forced to punt after just four plays.

Norwalk capitalized on its first possession, taking an early lead with a 35-yard field goal from Andres “For Sure-For Sure” Ramirez.

Both teams traded turnovers on downs before the Lancers extended their lead late in the first half. Running back Da’Ron Walker broke free for a 33-yard trip to paydirt, giving Norwalk a 10–0 advantage heading into halftime.

Norwalk wasted no time adding to its lead after the break. Walker punched in his second touchdown of the night on a one-yard dive, pushing the score to 17–0. Moments later, defensive lineman Marcus Castillo recovered a fumble to give the Lancers the ball right back.

Lynwood’s special teams came up with a big play, blocking a Norwalk field goal attempt to keep the score within reach.

The Knights found life midway through the fourth quarter when running back Darryon Wilson led a strong drive, capping it with a 28-yard touchdown run. A missed two-point conversion left the score at 17–6.

Norwalk responded with a clock-chewing drive that ended in a quarterback sneak by Axel Bustamante. The successful two-point conversion made it 25–6, sealing the win.

Lynwood’s final possession ended in a turnover on downs.

Walker led the Lancers’ offense with 156 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Cerritos added 118 yards on the ground. On defense, Andres Escobar recorded an interception, and Castillo was a force at defensive end, recovering a fumble and making plays all night.

Lynwood freshman quarterback Tytus Eng impressed with over 120 passing yards, while Wilson and Tristan Ormond combined for more than 100 rushing yards.

Norwalk improved to 6–0 and will host Compton Early College next week. Lynwood (2–4) returns home to face Gahr.
