South Pasadena’s Trey Freking rushed for over 200 yards in four different games in 2025 and he seemed to get stronger as the season progressed. He finished with 2,013 yards on the season and ran for 29 touchdowns.
His best game was in Week 3 against Franklin when he ran for 288 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 250 yards and three scores in a win over San Marino in Week 8 but he really turned it up in the post season.
While some players may get fatigued by the time the playoffs come around Freking got stronger. He rushed for 262 yards and three touchdowns in a first round win over San Marcos and followed that up with 260 yards and four touchdowns in a second round victory over Palmdale.
The Tigers advanced to the CIF Division 11 Semi-Finals but came up short 28-21 to Valley View. But Freking, as he had done throughout the season, came up big again racking up 190 yards and three scores on the ground.
Freking, a senior, also had two touchdowns receiving to finish with 31 total on the season.
2025 was a memorable year for South Pasadena and Freking. Trey Freking is our Player of the Year.
The numbers don’t lie, and in this case they are incredible. At 5’10” and 180 lbs, running the 100 meters at a decent 11.78 seconds, this kid should be picked-up by a college program that seeks to find undiscovered gems. This guy is a tough kid with great all-around athleticism.
Congratulations to Trey. A fine young man. May he be successful in the next level as I have heard that he is going to play NCAA Div 3. He will be missed at South Pas as they start the new Pacific/Rio Hondo combined league next season.
