The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1—The New York Knicks overcome a 29-point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs, 107-106, to win Game Four of the NBA Finals and take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 36.

2—OG Anunoby

3—“Can’t really explain it right now. I don’t know. I think it’s just… execution, greediness of some sort. We clearly weren’t the most hungry in the second half.”—Victor Wembanyama

4—Former Muir HC John Hardy Jr. turns 58 today. Hardy, who played at Muir and at Cal, also appeared in four games for the 1991 Chicago Bears.

5—“We saw the dumbest basketball team in the history of civilization. … They had a 25-point lead, took eight-straight threes. That was some of the most mismanaged, stupid basketball.”—Charles Barkley

6—Former Rams WR Lance Rentzel passed away on Sunday, June 7th at the age of 82.

7—BTW: The Los Angeles Sparks got 24-points from Nneka Ogwumike and 19 from Kelsey Plum and beat the Seattle Storm, 88-83, on Wednesday night.

8—On this day in 1990 Nolan Ryan tossed his sixth career no-hitter for the Texas Rangers, he was 43 years old. Ryan threw one more in the 1991 season to finish with a major league career leading seven no hitters.

9—”I think each and every person that walks into the locker room should have that mindset that you want to start in this league. That’s why we show up each and every day, to be able to go out there and be able to perform on Sundays or whatever that day is. So yeah, it’s definitely the main focus of why I work hard to be able to come back.”—Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson, who is competing with Shedeur Sanders for the starting job.

10—”It helps if the hitter thinks you’re a little crazy.”—Nolan Ryan

Outside of the Knicks, the biggest winners in last night’s Spurs collapse were the people who forked-over huge money for their tickets. In the first half, it looked like they were going to go home feeling ripped-off, but the fourth quarter made their expenditure look pretty darned prudent. Barkley is right: the Spurs displayed some brain-dead behavior.
