(Burbank) – Adam Colman has stepped down as the head football coach at Burbank after seven years he posted on Twitter (X) Tuesday.
Colman went 33-37 in his seven-year tenure and 3-3 in the playoffs. His best year was his first season in 2017 when he led the Bulldogs to an overall record of 10-3 including a perfect Pacific League record of 7-0 and the League title. Burbank beat Tustin and South Hills in the CIF Division 7 playoffs before falling to Don Lugo in the Semi Finals.
Burbank took second in the Pacific in 2018 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Glendora. The following year the Bulldogs went 5-7 overall but did advance to the second round of the playoffs before losing to Serrano.
Last season Burbank went 3-7 and missed the playoffs.
Burbank will begin the search for new head coach immediately.
Colman posted this statement on Twitter.

? unless they are also high school teachers on professional salary schedule. Which is pretty good depending on district
I think burbank has /or did have a very good history of success. Cal Hi beat them on a last minute play back in 09
Like most jobs you get raises after years of service. You get promotions and bonuses for good work. Thats most jobs, not public high school coaches. They get a “don’t let the door hit your backside on the way out.”
So far I count four schools that will be looking for a new HC. Azusa, Cal, Pasadena and Burbank.
Agree. Lou Holtz said something like : “5 years is beautiful, 7 years a dream, 10 years gotta get out of Dodge”
Administrators and population bases/ culture change at schools …. Good luck to Coach Colman
Waiting for the “why are so many coaches leaving?” and “there are more coaching changes this year than ever” comments that are made every season.
This head coaching thing looks tough. I would say 7 years is quite a good amount in this day and age. Not too many making it that far.
I wonder what the average career span of a head coach is in Southern California. I would guess about 4 years. Little pay, lots of responsibility.
