(Sun Valley) – Village Christian has hired former Oaks Christian DC Mark Bates to lead its football program sources confirmed Wednesday. Bates, a Village Christian alum, was a key assistant during the Bill Redell era at Oaks Christian.
Azusa Pacific Defeats Dominican
(Glendora) – Azusa Pacific jumped out to an 11-3 early advantage, fell behind by one at halftime but gained control in the second half to beat Dominican 71-64 Tuesday night at the Felix Event Center. The Cougars had three players in double figures with Troy Leaf leading the charge with 17.

It’s January and that means it’s time for the annual coaching changes in high school football. Okay so where are we at now? There were two more resignations just last week. Both seemingly came out of the blue. Jason Martin stepped down at Duarte and Ryan Maddox resigned after six successful seasons at Monrovia.
Sweet 600 for La Canada’s Hofman
(La Canada) – La Canada jumped out to a 20-5 lead to open the game and never trailed in a 73-62 home win over La Salle Friday night. The win was number 600 for La Canada Coach Tom Hofman who is in his 28th year as the Spartans head coach.

Diamond Ranch’s Delp Commits to Arizona State
(Pomona) – Diamond Ranch OL/DL Kammy Delp announced that he committed to Arizona State Sunday night at the Semper Fi Bowl at the StubHub Center in Carson. Delp made the announcement in the first quarter of the game that was televised on Fox Sports 1.
Aztecs Smother Cats, 65-42
(Monrovia) – Keppel used a 10-0 run to open the fourth quarter and went to to blitz Monrovia 65-42 Friday night on the Wildcats home floor. The Aztecs had four players in double figures as Adam Thompson led the way with 17 points. Bertram Mak finished with 14 while Bailey Kikuchi and Trey Shishima each added 11.
