(Glendale) – Crescenta Valley celebrated Homecoming Night with a resounding 62-28 win over Hoover to improve to 2-0 in the Pacific League.

Mark Sereno accounted for two touchdowns on the ground and Zac Wilkerson added one passing and one rushing touchdown enroute to a thrilling win.

The Tornadoes continued to shoot themselves in the foot with three turnovers that turned into 19 Falcon points.

Before fans could settle in for the night, Crescenta Valley had already opened up a 14-point lead on the legs of Sereno and Marro Lee’s rushing touchdowns. Sereno scored on a 17-yard run, while Lee scored from five-yards out.

Victimized by slow starts all season long, Hoover didn’t get the wake-up they were down 20-0. A.J. Pule would hook up with Dymond McRae on a quick-strike 80 yard pass play to get within 14-points before the first quarter gun would sound.

The Falcons would go on a 21-point unanswered run to end the half on top 41-7 and leave Hoover on the ropes.

Pule would get the Tornadoes back on track with eight minutes and 45 seconds remaining in the third quarter with a one-yard run.

The defense for Hoover would step early in the third quarter and forced Crescenta Valley to punt only to fumble the return. Tyler Martinez would recover the fumble on the Tornadoes 16-yard line. Sean Johnson would close the drive out with a two-yard run.

The Tornadoes valiantly fought back late in the third with Pule finding McRae for their second 80 yard pass completion for a touchdown, but it was a little too late as a running clock was instituted during the fourth quarter.
