(Burbank) – After five straight games on the road, Burbank finally showcased its offense to their home crowd with a 56-0 rout of shell-shocked Hoover.

While it appears the Bulldog offense clicked on all cylinders, the defense shined for 48 minutes with a near perfect game. The Tornado offense never passed midfield in the first half and it took two 15-yard late-hit penalties to help them finally get passed the 50-yard line with 7:18 remaining in the game.

Burbank pitched their first shut-out of the year and did something that no other team could do all season to the high-octane offense of Hoover. Shut them out.  The Tornadoes were held to 115 yards of offense and had four turnovers (two fumbles and two interceptions).

Hoover went through three quarterbacks with A.J. Pule being pulled after completing his longest pass from scrimmage for 48 yards. Alexander Rangel took a hard hit late in the game and didn’t return in the fourth quarter. Wide receiver Devaughn Williams came into the game in the fourth quarter for mop-up duty to close out the game in the “wildcat” offense.

The Tornadoes held tough against the Burbank offense by limiting them to just 21 points in the first half. The problem with the Bulldogs had more to do with six holding penalties and two dropped passes in the first half then Hoover’s defense.

After the break, Burbank exploded for 28-third quarter points with Adam Colman accounting for three of the four touchdowns scored. Colman out muscled the Tornado defense for a 16-yard score. He then connected on two long scoring passes in the quarter with a 30-yard pass to Jose Rodriguez and a 51-yard bomb to Ryan Thanaratnam.

Colman went 12 of 20 for 206 yards and four touchdowns. Colman ran for one touchdown as well.

Quortney Brazier ran for 198 yards and scored three touchdowns (two on the ground and one receiving). The Bulldogs would finish with 347 rushing yards.

Hoover’s habit of starting out slow continued in the game with a three and out on their first offensive possession. The Tornadoes defense never looked comfortable against the blitzing-defensive scheme of Burbank.

Brazier’s 21-yard touchdown run to end the third quarter was final nail in the coffin for Hoover which requested a running clock for the final twelve minutes.
