Mustangs Snap Losing Streak at Four

(Pasadena) – With their playoff lives hanging in the balance, Muir bounced back from two tough Pacific League losses to defeat Crescenta Valley 39-16.

With the Mustangs mired in a four game losing streak, it would take a team effort to get them back in the playoff race after losing to Burbank and Arcadia on back-to-back weeks.

Kevon Seymour and Jeffrey Davis stepped up to connect on two touchdown passes from 11 and 55-yards to help lead the way to victory.

Davis accounted for four touchdowns on the evening. Davis passed for three touchdowns and ran for another from 10-yards out that put the game away late in the first half.

After being held to 32 points in their previous two Pacific League games, Muir jumped on the Falcons early as Ryan Cater scored from three-yards out.

Karl Holmes got into the offensive act with a 45 reception for a touchdown from Davis midway through the second quarter to start the game with 20-unanswered points.

Without Marro Lee, Crescenta Valley had trouble generating any offense and Zac Wilkerson was pulled at the start of the second half in favor of Paul Perigini. It would pay dividends right away with a 14 play drive that was capped off by Nick Ruiz’s 13-yard touchdown reception.

That would be as close as the Falcons would get with both teams trading late touchdowns.

Crescenta Valley must rebound from the loss as they host Pasadena at Moyse Field in Glendale. The Mustangs face Hoover at Muir H.S.
