On The Couch: May 31, 2009

I’m sick in more ways than one, but everyone have a great day.

So after watching my wife be ill, I have now gotten sick myself and I write this with the flu.  No worries its not the swine.

If Laker fans think its going to be a cake walk to a NBA Championship, they are mistaken.  Orlando was able to use their mismatch against King James to blow out Cleveland in Game Six.

Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy is a much better x’s and o’s guy than his brother Jeff.  Not to mention we don’t have visions of Stan holding on for dear life trying to break up a fight like his brother.

Van Gundy has kept Orlando in the moment.  Every time they were met with adversity the Magic just answered the bell and fought back.

Los Angeles will be in for a tough series and need to show up every night if they want to win another ring.

I made a mistake on Wednesday in saying that the Dodgers were struggling after dropping two of three against their cross-town rivals in the Angels.  So hate mail from Scanlan has been brutal.

Let me rephrase my comment by saying that the team has only struggled against the Angels in the last four seasons.

Of course as myopic as Dodger fans are mentioning they have dropped two games to Chicago and have scored one run.  They play in the weak NL West which allows them to still be eight games ahead of their nearest competitor.

It took a NCAA record 25 innings but the Texas Longhorns finally defeated Boston College 3-2.  The game began at 6 p.m. Austin time and didn’t end until 1:06 a.m.

The Longhorns were actually held scoreless for 22 1/3 inning before scoring in the top of the 25th.

The game was part of the NCAA regional play-offs.

I saw the game was heading into the 19th inning and decided to watch the final six innings online.

I guess I really am sick.
