Bonita takes over the top spot by going undefeated in the Charter Oak tournament.

Lots of good softball played this week, which will be highlighted on Monday’s “In the Circle” column.

Some new teams enter the rankings while the top-five spots jumble with the biggest riser being Bishop Amat.

  1. Bonita (11-2) – Bearcats pitcher Anissa Sanchez has pitched in every game this season.
  2. South Hills (7-3) – Loss to Northview in Charter Oak Tournament derailed chances of meeting Bonita.
  3. Glendora (7-3) – Upset losses to La Serna and San Dimas dropped the Tartans off the top.
  4. Crescenta Valley (4-1) – Opening loss in High Desert Classic not the way Falcons envisioned tournament to start.
  5. La Canada (3-3) – No playing favorites, Spartans swept by good West Ranch club.
  6. Charter Oak (7-4) – In between tournament schedule, lost in first league game to Ayala.
  7. La Serna (6-2) – Young team upset Glendora and dismantled Northview.
  8. Bishop Amat (7-1) – Not drinking Lancer kool-aid just yet.
  9. Northview (6-4) – Two straight tough outings for Ana Mejia.
  10. Montebello (7-2) – Surprising start to Oilers season with appearance in Arroyo Tournament.
  11. San Marino (3-2) – Can Titans hit as well as they pitch?
  12. Duarte (5-1) – Falcons are the class of the Montview.
  13. Village Christian (4-3) – Crusaders getting some help from Madeline Velasquez’s bat (.619).
  14. Cerritos (5-1) – Will see if Dons are this good after facing Mayfair this week.
  15. Maranatha (5-2) – Scott Somers is doing a great job coaching Minutmen.
  16. San Dimas (5-5) – Courtney Hine might be the best centerfielder in the area.
  17. West Covina (4-3) – Bulldogs begin the Hacienda League on a winning note.
  18. Temple City (7-3) – Sami Jakeway and Jessica Loicano lead Ram hit parade.
  19. Whittier Christian (6-4) – Heralds return to top 25 by winning 5-of-6.
  20. Mayfair (4-5) – Brittney Boggs beginning to swing a hot bat.
  21. Arroyo (2-4) – Lady Knights now in the friendly confines of Mission Valley League.
  22. Schurr (3-5) – Spartans need to find spark from last season.
  23. La Salle (4-5) – Good News: Charter Oak Tournament ends. Bad News: home games scheduled for Big League Dreams (1-3).
  24. Burroughs (4-3) – Taylor Buliavac has a knack for getting on base with 14 of 22 at bats resulting in her being at first. (6 hits, 4 walks, and 4 HBP).
  25. Los Altos (2-2) – Week off before beginning tough Hacienda League schedule.
