Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

A guy waits all his life, works all his life, to get to the point where he can be a top draft pick in the NFL…and then veteran players are going to try and guilt them from going across the stage when their name is called on Draft Day?

This is where you tell someone to take a hike…and you bust them in the jaw if they hint at any physical repercussions towards you…

I was at one union meeting in my life…I heard the union leader physically threaten his own people from a microphone if they crossed the picket line…I knew right then and there I would never stay part of a union…and if I ever came across a guy like that…who threatened me…the moment after the threat was made I vowed I would remove his teeth.

There is a right to form a union, I agree…but the right to not join the union should always be maintained.

Go to YouTube and look at some of the old NCAA Tournament tapes…One of the best parts of college basketball for me growing up was the player introductions… “At guard a 6-3 senior from Hackensack, New Jersey number 21; Aaron James!”

…And all of the television broadcasts have completely gone away from it…Stupid, especially in an age where players come and go so fast.

Give me; “And at forward a 6-8 freshman from Altus, Oklahoma number 3; Gerry Wright!”

I have a feeling about Virginia Commonwealth…then again I had a feeling about Marvis Frazier against Larry Holmes, “Saving Private Ryan” versus “Shakespeare in Love”, and  Rob Johnson as a quarterback in the NFL.

So go Butler!

Last Add Union: Yes, all those years ago I supported the replacement players in baseball. I supported Mike Busch when the Dodgers called him up and came to think of Dodger union rep Brett Butler as a little worm.

Funny how in college basketball VCU is given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to compete for a national title, but in college football TCU has to sell its soul just to get into an important, albeit non-championship, game.

For those still interested…My brackets remain perfect.

What sort of person willingly ignores the NHL season, but eagerly looks forward to the NHL playoffs?

***

This issue keeps coming up: Will Rosemead have enough fire power on offense?

***

Hey, what do you know, the Knicks won one.

***

Dodgers take a lead into the top of the ninth, Jonathan Broxton takes the hill, and the Angels take a 5-4 victory Monday night. Nice to see the Bums are in mid-season form.

You think Broxton misses Orlando Hudson playing second base?

***

Carl’s Jr. seems to be having a tough time promoting its turkey burger…but I believe they really want you to go out and try it…They seem to have spared no expense.

***

Speaking of Turkey: I wouldn’t go to jail for Erin Andrews.

***

Note to Ben Negrete & Schurr Football: I don’t know who is going to play quarterback for you this September, but until that situation is settled run Bradley Powell or Eric Magos behind Jose Trejo.

***

The Almont will be wide open this fall.

***

By the way, does anyone know what became of Sir Jamalot?

***

Are they still canceling baseball games because of the rain?

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
