(San Gabriel) – John Carney, who has served as the JV Coach for the last six years, was named the Varsity Basketball Coach this week at Gabrielino. Carney takes over for Scott Brummett who resigned after 14 years earlier this month to spend more time with his family. Brummett will remain at the school as Athletic Director.
“I really feel he will do an outstanding job,” Brummett said.
Carney is also a teacher at Gabrielino. The Eagles are currently participating in summer basketball drills and will begin full time practice in mid November in preparation for the 2009-’10 season.
