(La Canada) – Game Recaps for the Midvalleysports.com/La Canada Winter Ball Tournament –
HART 66 MOORPARK 39
Time finally ran out on Hart in the Midvalleysports.com/La Canada Winter Ball Tournament on Friday night as they faced a red-hot Moorpark squad during a 66-39 loss in the Championship game.
Tournament MVP Ariana Halamandaris scored a game-high 18 points and punished the undersized Indians down low throughout the game.
Seemingly able to play the inside game with ease, the Musketeers found wide open opportunities from the outside as Paige Peel and Lauren Quinn combining for five three-pointers to help blow open the game in the third quarter.
Hart’s dynamic duo of Melissa Boscarino and Victoria Lionetti tried to keep the game close in the first half scoring 16 of the teams 19 points.
A slow start and a nail-biter Thursday evening inevitably became the undoing for the Indians as they fell behind again and this time had no magic answer for Moorpark who continued to put the pressure on Hart.
ARCADIA 57 LA CANADA 31
After an emotional loss on Thursday night, La Canada came out flat against Arcadia and paid the price as the Apaches came out firing on all cylinders to cruise to an 57-31 victory on Friday night in the 3rd place game of the Midvalleysports.com/La Canada Winter Ball.
With two lackluster performances on back-to-back nights, Arcadia Head Coach used a morning shoot around to hone the Apache attack. It worked as Arcadia came out hitting its first-five of six shots and racing out to a 12-4 lead within minutes of the opening quarter.
Melody Chang led the way hitting five three-pointers and the inside presence of Julissa Aguirre and Michelle Lai gave the Spartans fits as they were unable to use Micaela Anderson and Lauren Barsamian down low.
Chang finished with 32 points on the night.
As well as the Apaches scored, La Canada played flat as they couldn’t buy shots to keep the game close and turned the ball over too many times against a good Arcadia team.
Courtney Chen led the Spartans with 10 points.
