Mid Valley Girls Basketball Top 20

The Mid took the Winter Holidays off to go watch some tournament basketball. Congratulations to all the winners of the Rowland, Midvalleysports.com/La Canada, and Ayala tournaments during the winter break.

Now the beginning of the “real” season starts as teams jockey for top seeds in their divisions and attempt to win its perspective league.

1.  Muir (12-3) – Begin Pacific league play with inspired wins over Arcadia and Hoover.

2.  Bonita (13-3) – Still the ones to beat in Hacienda after win over Diamond Ranch.

3.  Bishop Amat (13-4) – Lancers play in arguably the toughest league in the SGV.

4.  Keppel (12-2) – Big game against La Jolla Country Day (13-1) on 01/14.

5.  Whittier (13-2) – Only blemishes are to teams with a combined 26 wins.

6.  Duarte (7-1) – Falcons take the Glendora Christmas tournament.

7.  Los Angeles Baptist (13-1) – Monet McNally has 24 points per game.

8.  Diamond Ranch (11-5) – Two of its five losses have come at the hands of Muir.

9.  Poly (10-4) – Michelle Miller is averaging 30 points per game.

10. La Salle (10-5) – Lancers showed some moxie in Santa Barbara tournament.

11. Norwalk (11-5) – Tough two-game stretch against Mayfair and La Mirada this week.

12. Wilson (11-4) – After big win over Covina in Rowland Tourney, Wildcats look like favorites in Valle Vista.

13. South Pasadena (11-5) – Dropped El Segundo Tourney finals to Centennial.

14. Arcadia (8-4) – Melody Chang and Julissa Aguirre will need to be on their “A” games for Apaches to compete in Pacific League.

15. Glendora (11-5) – Casie Lowden is averaging 14 points per game for Tartans.

16. St. Lucy’s (9-4) – Tough Rowland Tournament for Regents as they went 2-2.

17. Workman (12-3) – Lobos are the surprise of the Montview.

18. Whittier Christian (11-6) – Crusaders escaped with win over Valley Christian to kick-off Olympic League season.

19. Covina (11-3) – Hard to shake off loss over Wilson in Rowland Championship.

20. Rosemead (9-6) – Brito, Gauthier, and Hua will give MVL teams fits beginning this week.
