Southeast Division Coach of the Year: Los Altos’ HC Dale Ziola

Our pics of Dale Ziola were less than flattering (our fault not his) so we made the call to go with this pic instead. Congrats to all at Los Altos

Welcome to Awards Season

There was a film called “The Miracle Worker” that came out many years ago about a woman named Anne Sullivan who taught a blind-deaf girl how to communicate with the outside world. The girl was Helen Keller and it’s one of the most amazing stories ever.

This past year Dale Ziola became head coach of a program that was struggling and winless in 2010. In 2011 Ziola took a previously 0-10 team to a winning record, the playoffs, and within one play of the semifinals. The school was Los Altos and it is probably the most amazing story of this recent season.

The Conquerors went 8-4 with the same quarterback, same running backs, the same team and only fell after an incredible shootout with La Serna that went down to the game’s final play.

In the recent weeks we’ve heard people praise and detract (hey its Los Altos you’re always going to have that) but there is no mistaking Ziola did the coaching job of the year.

For that reason he is the Mid Valley Sports, Southeast Division Coach of the Year.
