Off The Cuff: August 12, 2009

What did we learn last night?

Well I for one am impressed with Northview Head Coach Jim Arellanes.

The fact he didn’t start flinging a football until his freshman season and became the starting quarterback at Fresno State is what movies of the week are made of.

He started in front of Billy Volek who ended up playing with the Titans and Chargers.

Coming from a former Bulldog, to hear about the “red wave” and see the expression in his face was priceless.

He is also is a disciple of University of California head coach Jeff Tedford.  Which as most know is a genius with quarterbacks.

Silas Demary was his usual pumped up self during his interview.

For those who have never seen him play, the word “warrior” is a complete understatement.  The last few years after he won the AFL’s Lineman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2005, Demary took longer to get up because of his knees and nagging back.

Still during those years, he battled every game night.

Arena Football fans got a few answers from the players side on why the AFL ended up closing shop.  The biggest was the fact the league never saw a dime of the $6 million dollar profit that EA Sports got for making the AFL games.

Now I just got a email explaining more of the inner workings of what was going on with the owners and their inability to get a deal done to play in 2010.  That will be forth coming in tomorrow’s edition when I decipher all the rhetoric involved.

The Toyota Speedway at Irwindale Report blew up last night!

We had are largest crowd and some very good guests.

Bill Wood is so accomplished as far as being a writer and producer am I still trying to compose myself.

It isn’t everyday you have a multiple winner of the “Golden Mike” in studio.
