Jay Gauthier's Lady Panthers have won 34 straight MVL games
(El Monte) – Melody Gauthier scored 20 points and Karina Brito added 12 to lead Rosemead to a 50-32 win over Arroyo Friday to clinch the Mission Valley League title.
It was the ninth league title in 11 seasons for the Lady Panthers and it was their 34th consecutive league victory.
Arroyo managed just eight points in the first half including two in the second quarter as Rosemead jumped out to a 22-8 halftime lead.
Jay Gauthier’s team extended the advantage to 40-18 by the end of the third quarter. Sara Ragen added eighth points for the Lady Panthers (8-0, 17-7).
Arroyo fell to 6-2 in league with both losses coming at the hands of Rosemead. The Lady Knights still have a good shot at the post season.
