Harvard Offers Mason Bryant

M-Town's Mason Bryant receives offer from Harvard

(Monrovia) – Monrovia receiver/kicker Mason Bryant received an offer from Harvard his father Kennedy Bryant confirmed Monday. Mason will be live on the Mid Valley Sports Show Tuesday night April 3 at 7:00 pm to talk about the offer and his football career.

It was the first offer for Bryant but there figure to be many more. ”We’re also in serious conversations with Yale, Vanderbilt and Northwestern,” Kennedy Byant said. ”We’re very excited.”

Last year as a junior Bryant caught 28 passes for 541 yards and six touchdowns as he averaged over 19 yards per catch. He also had 35 tackles and assisted on 13 others. He had 49 PAT and six field goals while scoring 117 points.

@ Ivy League comparing Mason Bryant to anyone @ Wilson is like comparing bubble gum to Grape juice. It is painfully obvious that you have no idea what this kid has done on the football field that last 3 three seasons at MHS. The Midvalley should post his highlite video or maybe you ought to google the kid. I don’t think the Harvard Coaches just want him to enroll there just for his brain

It’s great that this kid got a offer, but the offer is academic, and has nothing to do with his football ability. The amount of the offer is strickly based on his parents income. Not saying this kid can or can’t play at the next level, but those are the facts.

A good example of this is Keith Hawk over at Wilson, this kid can’t caught a football if his life depended on it. He also got a full ride to Ivy league program. This is a kid that was pulled from the starting lineup at Wilson, and he got a scholarship to an Ivy league program also.

BFF, If you are able to read through the lines then you will realize that receiving an offer from an Ivy league school comes in many forms. Ivy league financial aide packages are often worth ten times more than a D1 scholarship package. It usually includes everything from room and board to chewing gum on your off days. Mason has the world in front of him all he has to do is make more right decisions and it will all come together in the end. He is not the only player on Monrovia’s team to receive interest from Ivy league schools in academics as well as sports. We are proud of our kids for performing on and off the field.

@BigFatFan, in Part 2 of the kids interview sounds like the Harvard bound kid gave the correct explanation. Sounds to me like your hating on the kid, I hope that isn’t the case, we should be applauding the Monrovia kid for his accomplishments thus far instead being hyper critical. I wonder if you were ever consider Ivy League material.

Congratulations Mason. Your dad is somewhat a genius himself. You will represent Monrovia well in the Ivy league if you choose to take that route, Obama are you listening? This should be your greatest season because I started seeing your true potential 2 seasons ago when you caught your first pass. Watch out for them Wildcats in 2013.
