Arcadia Names Chris Long HC

New Arcadia HC Chris Long

Chris Long was selected to fill the head coach vacancy left after the resignation of John Dimalante.  Long is a graduate of Serra High School and was an assistant on Dimalante’s staff last year and earlier this decade. He was also was the HC at Hoover from 2008 through 2010.

“I’m really excited about taking over at Arcadia,” Long said. “Following in the footsteps of Coach Dimalante is an honor. We have a good football team coming back.”

Long is on campus at Arcadia as a substitute teacher. He plans on running a spread offense and will handle the offensive coordinator duties himself. Eric Elias, formerly the OC, will move across the line and work as the DC.

Elias, who played cornerback for the Apaches, has been serving on the Arcadia staff.

“I’ve had a great time calling plays but I’m excited about moving over and learning the defense,” Elias said.

The Apaches are coming off a 9-3 season in which they advanced to the second round of the playoffs before falling to La Mirada. Spring workouts begin May 7.
