So today we scrimmaged & We invited Mark kepple to our scrimmage.. Sadly we didn’t play them but we did see them.. They were running the same offense that mtn view runs. I heard that there’s a mtn view coach at kepple & I’m guessing he’s changing the whole offense. Horrible offense!!!!!!

I went out to watch the Matadores practice today. The two transfers they got from St. Paul are legit. The older brother was a varsity starter as a Sophmore last year at LB and he looked impressive playing DE, definitely looks like he could lead the Almont league in sacks. The younger brother will be one of the Mats starting CB and will also play WR, looks to have great coverage skills and fluid movement. Both should definitely be in the running for all league honors.

Coach O how do feel now that u got passed up for the Alhambra job and seeing what is happening at Alhambra? Also do see yourself moving onto a bigger high school job or even a junior college job?

SG will surprise. Coach O’s faith based coaching, an excellent coaching staff, and reputation of maximizing his player’s potential is beginning to earn respect. Families are moving into SG territory to play for him. A. Villalobos production will be missed but the high quality transfers will more than make up the difference on both sides of the ball.

Keppel football: completely incorrect information. Zion babb and Mitchell Crockum both played under coach Gil reudaflores and manny his son (now at Pcc) was the oc. Torres was the athletic director for all those years. Torres coached only the last 2 seasons and to my knowledge there aren’t any signings for d1 players, only potential. just keeping the information straight and accurate. Torres did however, did run the offense in the 90s, when Alhambra last had an undefeated team.

In regards to the teams in the almont league. I have seen a few of these teams up close while at arroyo HS in the summer. I thinks it’s going to be a toss up between Alhambra, schurr, and SG. Schurr has decent lines on both sides of the ball, but their QB play is lacking, which may hinder them if they cannot run the ball. SG has an explosive offense and will throw the ball around the field, but for the most part the players are small and soft, which will be a problem when they play any team that is physical and pushes their players around. Alhambra has a great O-line and D-line. They have a nose tackle that will give many teams trouble. Kids got size and speed. However, their passing game is awful, which means their D will have to keep them in games. So if I had to pick who’s going to take the almont league, I guess it would be a toss up between Alhambra and BG.

All the comments and the hype is about Alhambra, No MOOR! Has Alhambra even won league? Without Mendoza at QB you cant win. Bell Gardens they play with a lot of heart but to inconsistent. San Gabriel can repeat, certainly the Head Coach has made miracles happen for the Matadors. Montebello has talent they just cant seem to win all the important games. Keppel can catch some teams off guard if there not careful. And well one thing is for Schurr Coach Ramirez is and well lets just a Schurr Alum and winning is the only option for the Spartans!

@ keppel football, lmao you talk too much and dont know squat about football. do your homework, that yr i played against alhambra and from the booklet it states “manny ruedaflores” was the offensive coordinator!!! ask the mid valley staff. moreover zion babb wound up at Michigan university!!!!. i saw him play vs notre dame and as for that crockum guy i think he wound up at the university of idaho!!!! so both went on to a division 1 school. you just like coming up here talking nonsense, just sayin!! stop being a hater. as for alhambra, be ready for a spartan beatdown!!!!

Good to see Coach Mike at TC, do it brother !!!! Look for Jude and company back at the big game. Keppel will win a game, Schurr is tough but no consistent QB I like the lefty good size arm strength but is not accurate, the smaller one throws a better ball. But NEVER forget BG, look for BG to upset Alhambra and faceoff with SG for Almont. Montebello is a good take they are quiet over there, but will make some noise……Lastly No one will go 10-0 in the Almont or is unstoppable upfront !! BG, SCHURR, can shut it down…..Alhambra loaded with Seniors but this will be a transition year believe it or not… SG takes it all…too much hard work put in since April a couple of good transfers.

Is that your real name!!! Wow! If you know anything about schedules, This schedule was made by the previous idiot coach Alhambra had, Torres… But even though your right! Alhambra will end up 10-0 in season and lose in the Semi’s… Against one of the big 3′s…. (even without a QB) upfront they’re unstoppable and they will show it… But the real diffrence maker is Coack Kanak.

It’s been long overdue, but don’t forget SGHS & RSMD established the Battle for the Spike last season. Rosemead holds it now, but it was an even trade off for a trip to the big show. We at the Rosemead Rebels are proud of all the success our ex players have had in high school football.

This isn’t a radio call-in show, it’s a blog. If you want the Mids opinion on Keppel read their articles. Since they never write any, I will give you my interpretation of what the Mid would say (disclaimer: this is for entertainment purposes and in no way represents the feelings or opinions of the Mid Valley Staff, even though it does)

Dear Keppel (fill in the blank),

After reading your many inquiries on the status of Keppel football we felt it was time to investigate the “the so called” existence of Keppel Football. Like the Loch Ness and Big Foot, there have been rumblings of this, before unseen phenomenon. After obtaining hundreds of hours of film and images from various sources it is truly impossible to confirm that the presence of football exists in those parts. With the recent rumblings that a former freshmen coach, who failed to land the head football job at Mt. View, has taken control of this program, we can now with all confidence state, unequivocally, that football does not exist at Mark Keppel High School.

We hope this will end all future inquiries.

    Sincerely,

    The Mid Valley Staff

P.S. There is no truth to the rumor that we at the Mid Valley have Keppel ranked ahead of West Covina!

MVS Staff: While this was very entertaining and fairly well written, it really does not reflect the views of Mid Valley Sports with regards to Keppel football!

On another note Cujo Lorena, if you are interested in using your writing skills to cover football, drop us a line! joe@midvalleysports.com or duane@midvalleysports.com

Nice schedule Alhambra. Your preseason should prepare you for that tough game with Keppel. At least we know why your coaching staff is consistently ridiculed for being lazy and your teams underachieve. I guess that explains the boat race against SG

    Hey MidValley Guys!
Enjoy reading you blog and watching your show when I can catch it. Just a quick suggestion. Last year, before SG played Alhambra, you guys spoke to players on each team, trying to create a rivalry that really isn’t there. As far as neighborhoods are concerned, SG is a natural rivalry with Rosemead High School. Factoid: SGHS has MORE Rosemead residents that attend their school than Rosemead High School. Plus, the two teams are comprised of many athletes who grew up and played together on the Rosemead Rebels Pop Warner team. So, I hope, if you guys being in SG players this year, that you will talk to a couple of Rosemead players and their coaches. Thanks, and keep reppin’ SGV sports.
