5. The new blue track surrounding the new field turf at San Dimas High School.

6. The recruiting class of 2008 led by Kevin Prince are Johnathan Franklin has gone 21-30 at UCLA.

7. Former Alhambra linebackers coach Mike Gutierrez is now an assistant at Temple City.

8. Allyson Felix of the U.S wins the gold medal in the 200 meters.

9. On this day in 1988 the Los Angeles Kings traded Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, three future first round draft picks and $15 million to the Edmonton Oilers for Wayne Gretzky, Marty McSorley, and Mike Krushelnyski.
