Off The Cuff: September 10, 2009

Yes, this column is back. It takes a thick skin to write, just like an Arena Football defensive back.

Doesn’t it feel as though the Super Bowl was just a few weeks ago. Last week, both College and High School teams began their march to title and now the NFL.

My choice for the Super Bowl this season is Tennessee and Carolina. Both teams have very good running games and quarterbacks that manage the game.

Being a Cincinnati Bengal fan has been brutal for almost two decades, but this season after watching “Hard Knocks” I feel as though this team is about ready to turn the corner. They only need to keep Carson Palmer healthy, avoid players getting arrested, and Chad Ocho Cinco needs to stop being a malcontent.

Not that anyone noticed, but the US National Soccer team moved one step closer to locking down a World Cup bid. Nothing says staying up at odd hours of the morning like the World Cup.

Yesterday, it took a beautiful strike from Ricardo Clark to get the US on the board after a very sluggish first half.

With two games remaining against Honduras and Costa Rica, the Americans must win one or tie both to punch their ticket.

It still looks as though the Dodgers are trying to give the N.L. West away as the Colorado Rockies are gaining on the “Boys in Blue.” Before Scanlan says anything, if you walk the bases loaded against a team playing .440 baseball, you deserve to get hung with a loss.

You are giving the division away.

I am going to campaign for Los Angeles Angels Kendry Morales for MVP. He has only mirrored Mark Texeria’s numbers from a year ago for less money.

On that note, let us go watch some football today! I will be heading out to Glendale High School for the season opener of Sierra Vista and Hoover. If your out there feel free to heckle.

Until tomorrow.
