(Norwalk)-Bryan Sullivan had 136-yards rushing, Rashaad Penny had 105 total yards as they combined for 3-touchdowns inNorwalk’s 28-6 win over Whittier Friday night at Excelsior Stadium.
The Cardinals came out strong on their first drive pounding the rock down field, before capping it off with an easy 29-yard touchdown run from Kevin Ramirez to make it 6-0 after a missed extra point.
The Lancers woke up two series later when Sullivan took the hand off 78-yards to paydirt to tie it up at 6-6.
In the second quarter Norwalk took full control when Penny caught a 36-yard pass from Jacquise Hooper for the score, Penny also pounded in the two point conversion and Malcom McAllister broke through the Cardinals defense for a 42-yard touchdown to make it 21-6 at halftime.
Whittier only managed twelve offensive plays the second half and just 24-yards, as the Lancers controlled the balls racking up yards on the ground with Penny scoring his second touchdown from 1-yard out to put up Norwalk 28-6.
The Lancers defense only allowed 168 total yards led by Martin Jimenez, Aaron Armendarez and Eduardo Limon. McAllister chipped in on offense with 93-yards and his score.
Whittier’s bright spot on defense was an interception on the goal line in the third quarter by Ralph Razo to stop aNorwalkdrive. Quarterback Michael Viramontes went 4 of 6 for 46-yards, Ramirez and Gerry Pantoja combined for 70-yards on the ground. Matthew Acosta had 4-receptions for 41-yards.
The Lancers stay undefeated and travel to La Mirada for the showdown of Suburban League powerhouses.Whittier goes home to play Sweetwater.
