5. The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 in Game 3 to wrap up the NL Wild Card series.

9. When the Chicago White Sox beat the Houston Astros Wednesday to win their Wild Card playoff series it was their first playoff series win since 2005 and only their fourth playoff series win in team history. The White Sox, originally known as the Chicago White Stockings, were established in 1901.
10. On this date in 1963 Sandy Koufax struck out 15 batters to lead the Dodgers to a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium.
