Hoover defensive coordinator Chuck Leonardis, an Arcadia alum, was named head football coach at Alhambra Monday afternoon.

Leonardis has been coaching high school and college football for 10 years and just completed his second season at Hoover. He is married to his wife Gabby and they reside in Arcadia with their three kids: Dylan, 10, Noah, 9, and Emma, 6.
Coach Leonardis graduated and played football at Western New Mexico University, after playing two years at Pasadena City College. He then received his Masters Degree and credential in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.
He has been working as an Adapted Physical Education teacher at the Almansor Center in South Pasadena for 6 years.

Your totally right starting at the district, I wish him all the luck they really need a rebuilding of the program.
@Mvs are u guys going to have him on the midvalley sports show
T Maher,
good endorsement.
I hope “thick skin” is on his list of attributes – because Alhambra football has so underachieved that “doubt” is more prevalent than hope, when it comes to a new hire. Posts here show that is the case as well.
Time for a new watch to take over at Alhambra and stay awhile.
Don’t care if he was an all american at usc or alabama and a nfl pro bowler the bottom line is on paper he looks ok, can he get things done here at alhambra. when it sounds to good to be true it usually is, I’m sorry guys notbuying it i just don’t believe the hype!!. Time will tell how good of a coach he is, if he can take alhambra at least to the almont championship game then he gots game. if he doesn’t he will be just anither mediocre coach. We will see in time.
I am fired up to learn of Chuck Leonardis hire at Alhambra high. Chuck played for me at PCC 1997-98 during the time we had no facilities. He was our best player and best teammate. He earned All-American at linebacker. He was ver aggressive inteligent player. He signed with the first recruiter he met and became Western New Mexico’s best player. He coached at the JC and semi-pro level as well as high school. Great teacher and motivator. Intensely loyal. He helped Andrew (teammate at Arcadia and PCC) at Hoover. He understands how important it is to help his athletes to go to college. Alhambra players will play hard, learn respect from this tremendous coach. I have over 50 former players of mine coaching high school football. If I could hire someone today it would be Chuck. Tom Maher, Fullerton College QB Coach
Chuck Leonardis played for me at PCC when we had no facilities (1997-98). He was a great player and teammate becoming an All-American Linebacker. He signed with the very first recruiter he met and went to Western New Mexico and was their best player. He is so very loyal and helped his Arcadia and PCC teammate Andrew at Hoover. He coached high school, JC and semi-pro football. He is a fantastic teacher and motivator. Alhambra football players are going to play with a fanatical effort and be proud of their program. Coming out of the JC ranks he knows how important it is to help his players to go to college. I have over 50 x-players of mine in high school coaching and If I was going to hire someone today to make my college players achieve it would be Chuck. I am so fired up to learn of this hire. Coach Tom Maher, Fullerton College
He has the right skin color, if that’s what a coach is suppose to look like. For a.h.s. that’s the first qualification.
chuck is agood choice. Good luck Chuck
Chuck was also head coach for the Hollywood Stars and took them to the CFA Championship! Give him an opportunity and stop drinking that haterade!
Alhambra draws from a good talent pool and needs a strong coaching staff and vision to get things on the right track. Hopefully Leonardis is the guy to make it happen
He looks like a coach.
That is a great hire. Leonardis is a great man and a great coach. He spent the 06-07 season at Monrovia.
donde esta steve bogan
@Alhambra pride kanach was from out of the area and that hurt him and staff he put together was horrible. Jude would have been a great hire but I think this a good hire depending on the staff that he puts together.
that’s what they said about kanack lmao!!! i think jude oliva would be better fit than this coach. hoover high has always been known to struggle
INSIDER Bell Gardens Head Coaching position also vacant
I love how wowser will eat his words once he sees what coach Chuck can do! It’s going to be a great season for Alhambra!!
They only had the County mug shot or what.
Want to say Congratulations to a good friend of mine. Incredible Defensive Coach. Great person. Alhambra made a super choice. Put in his time all over and finally settling into Hoover with his good friend Coach Polluck. A true players coach. Good Luck my friend. Go Cats!
