1. With the first pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select forward Anthony Bennett out of UNLV.

 2. The Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets land a blockbuster deal in which the Celtics send Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to the Nets for three first round picks (‘14, ‘16, and ‘18), Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Tornike Shengalia, Reggie Evans and Keith Bogans.

 3. After drafting him with the sixth pick, the New Orleans Pelicans trade center Nerlans Noel (Kentucky) and a 2014 first-round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for all-star point guard Jrue Holiday.

 4. Aaron Hernandez requests  bail on Thursday a day after he was charged with first-degree murder. The request was denied.

 5. Reports say Dwight Howard is expressing his lack of interest to return to the Lakers due to his disliking for Mike D’Antoni’s system.

 6. Spain overcomes Italy in penalty kicks to advance to face Brazil in the Confederations Cup Finals.

 7. On this day in 1997, Mike Tyson bit a chunk out of Evander Holyfield’s ear in a heavyweight title fight and was disqualified.

 8. Happy birthday to Denver Broncos’ hall-of-fame quarterback John Elway who turns 53 today.

 9. On this day in 2009, Mariano Rivera earned his 500th save.

 10. Bulls center Joakim Noah on the Heat winning the championship: “At first I said I didn’t care, but I was lying to myself. I was driving in my car and I just didn’t feel good about it at all after they won. Well you know what? It’s going to be extra motivation to work extra hard in the off season and I feel like we’ll be the team that beats them next year.”
