Mike Minter stepping down as M-Town assistant. We're going to miss this guy...So will prep football.

Mike Minter, here celebrating the first of thee titles in 2010, has stepped down as M-Town’s defensive line coach. We’re going to miss this guy…So will prep football.

“You said you’d never compromise…With the mystery tramp, but know you realize

He’s not selling any alibis…As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes…

And say do you want to make a deal?”—Bob Dylan

Kick it!

Josh Hamilton is out eight weeks? Wow! How much are the Angels paying him again? Ouch!

I’m starting to think Kenley Jansen is gone and former Monrovia linebacker Josh Lowden has been the Dodger closer the last two nights.

I’d like to see the Del Rio League moved into the Mid-Valley Division. We talked about this on the Tuesday show a few weeks ago.

La Serna is doing best right now in the league but I don’t believe it is because they own a physical edge over the rest of the schools. Others might see it differently, but from my spot it’s the job Margarito Beltran has done there.

Whittier, Pioneer, El Rancho, and Cal are all perfect fits for the the Mid-Valley. Santa Fe, these days, is as well. I know that sounds like a reach, but it’s been a long time since the Chiefs Nation has packaged together deep, deep post-season runs. La Serna offers a great balance to the rest of the division with Monrovia and San Dimas.

How do you make room? Boot the Alpha. Selfishly, I’d like to see Paraclete stay in the MVS orbit so that’s why a few weeks ago I argued for the upgrading of the Del Rey League. There are schools in the Del Rey that shouldn’t even be playing in the Northwest Division, and there are others, that shall go nameless, that shouldn’t even be playing football.

Tangent…Two weeks ago I asked CIF’s Glen Martinez this.

Me: Shouldn’t some schools just drop football altogether.

Martinez: That’s a good question.

The new Miramonte goes into the Northwest, because the Tri-Valley is given the heave-ho out. This gives you a really balanced playoff conference.

In regards to the Southeast…I hate seeing Bonita and Diamond Bar go…but my argument would be to leave it alone.

That’s my world, and I only considered football.

Speaking of Los Altos, does Matt Hayashi become the feature back this year?

Poll question: Would you pick Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round to be your starting quarterback? (Vote in poll)

The Wilson Wildcats lost their last nine games last season after an opening victory over Bosco Tech…Thought that was interesting considering the new HC is Greg Gano.

Last Add Angels: The good news is Albert Pujols will pick up the slack while Hamilton is out…Yeah, and I’m Thad Bosley.

The subject of “Slapshot” came up after the Tuesday show…where do you rank it in greatest sports movies of all time? I hear about so many others, but this one…at least I haven’t heard much discussion about it.

Since we’re spreading it all around today in the sports we’re talking about. Who do you like in the Northview Derby this summer?

The Vikings have four players in the mix to play quarterback under new offensive coordinator Chris Williams. They are: (senior-to-be) Eduardo Romero, (junior-to-be) Paul Cooper, (junior-to-be) Elijah Grijalva, and (sophomore-to-be) Jesse Carrasco.

“Should be fun this year,” Northview HC Marcel Perez said. “A lot of competition.”

You write about Northview…and the note comes in for us not to overlook Covina. I can guarantee the C-Town faithful that nobody is going to overlook Pearnell Smalley, or make that Pearnell Smalley IV.

Longtime Monrovia line coach Mike Minter has stepped down.

“Made a real tough decision last week and decided to step down as line coach at Monrovia High School. I had been their 17 years,” wrote Minter on his Facebook page this morning. “I just wanted to thank all of my players for the special memories. I really enjoyed riding your coat tails every year. Thanks to all of the Coaches I had the pleasure of working with over the years. Monrovia Football is in great hands. Good luck to Coach Stevens and the boys. It will be another exciting year for the Cats. Now my time falls to my 11-year old. High School is on the horizon for him. I want to be there every step of the way.”

We wish him well.

Regards:

In regards to Hank Aaron: I guess I’m a racist.

In regards to Cameron Diaz: She does look 41.

In regards to my daughter: Sacramento has revealed to her the “SIN” of working hard this tax season.

In regards to “Draft Day”: Of course I’m going to see it.

In regards to “Survivor”: I can’t believe it…They got rid of the cupcake.

The Dude abides…
