Minter’s Top Five

Mike Minter, who has been an area assistant coach for nearly two decades, chimes in with his Top 5. Minter coached at Monrovia from 1998-2013 and at Bosco Tech from 2016-2018. He has since returned to Monrovia and will be on the Wildcats staff this year.

So West Covina wins the SGV Shootout? What? Last year the Bulldogs were knocked out early and that figured. With guys like Chris Solomon, Jimmy Frazier and Aaron Salgado all Head Coach Mike Maggiore was going to do was pound the ball and he did it all they way to a second consecutive CIF Championship.

It started as soon as the season ended in mid November. Glendale Coach Al Eberhart stepped down and was eventually replaced by long time area assistant John Tuttle.

Wildcats’ Title is Biased, 53-14

(Monrovia) – Monrovia rode the wave of a 39-0 run in the second half and the legs of Marquis Bias to a 53-14 rout of San Gabriel Saturday night to win the CIF Mid-Valley Division Title for the second straight year before a packed house at Monrovia High.
