(Pomona)- Mario Gomez, an assistant on the Diamond Ranch staff since 2006, was named head coach today former Panther HC Roddy Layton confirmed.
Gomez has been the interim coach since Layton stepped down two months ago. He has been running practices and booster club meetings since that time. He was the assistant head coach and prior to that he was the DC.
“He’s a perfect fit for Diamond Ranch. He knows the players and he knows the game. He’s a great fit,” Layton said.
Last Year the Panthers finished 9-2 overall and won the Hacienda League going 6-0 but they lost in the first round of the playoffs to Santa Fe 31-28.
