Aston Villa faces FC Dallas in friendly.

It is Christmas in August for full-blooded futbol fans and PBR fans as both return from layoffs at the end of the summer.

Let’s talk futbol first as the Barclay’s Premier League begins its 24th season known as the Premier League. The most lucrative league in the world starts its second season on NBC Sports with big expectations after many of its clubs came stateside for friendlies against MLS clubs.

To talk how lucrative the league is consider that every club in the BPL will earn automatically $36.3 million. Recently relegated Cardiff City earned additional $104.4 million last season while playing in the league. Liverpool which didn’t even win the BPL earned $163.6 million.

Nowadays there really isn’t a place that you don’t see BPL club jersey in public. Of course, mostly it is the top-five clubs in the league such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Aresnal that are seen stateside.

Now consider that the Premier League’s ratings are better than baseball in the United States. In one weekend according to worldsoccertalk.com the Newcastle-Manchester United drew 469,000 viewers over Giants-Dodgers game televised on FoxSports1. The futbol game began at 7 a.m. west coast time and the baseball game began at 1 p.m. during the first week of the season.

Last year, the league showed its final week of the season with nothing on the line after all relegation spots and UEFA and Europa League spots were decided.

PBR returning to Tulsa marks the beginning of the second half of the Built Ford Tough Series. Last year, Tulsa was the springboard for J.B. Mauney’s improbable World Championship comeback. In the championship round, Mauney rode Bushwacker for 95.5 points. It was the first time two-time bucking bull of the year was ridden in 43-outs.

When the stretch drive begins this weekend, Guillherme Marchi’s lead is a minuscule 296 points clear of Fabiano Viera. With the top five separated by 1004 points. That could easily swing largely due to 900 possible points available to the winner. (100 for each round winner, riding score and 300 for event winner)

The bull power on hand will be tough for the bull riders as tonight is an ABBI which features the top-three and four-year old bulls in the country. Jared Allen will have two bulls in tonight’s first round with Diesel and Magic Train. Allen will also have World Champion Bucking Bull contender Air Time in the Championship round tomorrow night.

Speaking of Championship round bulls, it will be the toughest set of bovines sent out tomorrow night since the Last Cowboy Standing. Among the bulls in the championship round tomorrow night will be Bushwacker, Asteroid (2012 Bucking Bull of the Year), Mick E Mouse (unridden in 26 straight-outs), and Fire and Smoke. All bulls are contenders for bucking bull of the year.

Next week, we talk Who Does Brent Have?
