(La Canada) – St. Francis scored three times in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and finish off Monrovia 35-13 Friday night at Friedman Field.

The Golden Knights led 7-6 at half time and 14-13 after three quarters before blowing it wide open in the fourth.  Monrovia, trailing 21-13 had a golden opportunity to get even late in the fourth as they mounted a drive down the field. But Mason Williams jumped in front of intended receiver Octavius Spencer and interecepted Asaph Zamora’s pass in the end zone with just under five minutes left to secure the victory.

St. Francis went on to score twice more in the last four minutes plus to turn what was a close game into a perceived rout. The Golden Knights scored three plays after the interception and closed it out with a defensve touchdown.

***After Williams’ pick, three plays later Dylan Crawford took a handoff and raced past the Monrovia secondary 54 yards for a touhcdown.

***On the next series, Nick Horner intercepted a deflected Zamora pass and rumbled 59 yards for a score. In a span of 1:06 the score went from 21-13 to 35-13.

***Crawford also scored the first touchdown of the game when he got behind the Monrovia secondary and hauled in a 52-yard pass from Jeremiah Martin on the first series of the game to put St. Francis up 7-0.

****Monrovia managed just two Blake Cusick field goals in the first half – from 32 and 36 yards.

***Crawford, who has received several D-1 offers, caught four passes for 125 yards in addition to the fourth quarter TD on the ground.

***Martin completed 12-18 for 267 yards and a touchdown. Tight end John Carroll had four receptions for 73 yards.

***Zamora was 17-32 for 264 yards and a touchdown for M-Town. He was hurt by the two intereceptions which both came in the fourth quarter.

***St Francis took the eight point lead on a 53-yard run by Areg Nazarian with 8:05 left in the fourth. The run came off a counter play which completely caught Monrovia’s defense by surprise. Nazarain had 12 carries for 160 yards and a touchdown.

***Monrovia’s only score came on a 19-yard TD strike from Zamora to Octavius Spencer in the third quarter. Spencer caught six balls for 153 yards.

***Zamora was sacked five times by the Golden Knights.

***St. Francis improved to 3-0 while Monrovia fell to 3-1.
