With the playoffs just around the corner, it is without question that the sense of urgency could be felt throughout StubHub Center on Saturday night. In the end it was Los Angeles who showed they want the Supporters’ Shield to gain home field advantage throughout the Division playoffs with a 3-0 drubbing of Toronto F.C.

The win put them three points clear of Seattle with only three games remaining.

Robbie Keane’s brace in five minutes that included a brilliant volley that had the entire crowd buzzing gave the Galaxy a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. The Ireland born striker solidified his drive to become MLS MVP with his highlight reel goal in the 25th minute.

The goal also became a milestone for Landon Donovan who became the all-time leader in the MLS in assists with his 136th in his Hall of Fame career. Donovan also leads the MLS all-time in goals scored with 144.

Early on it was apparent that Los Angeles wanted to continue its dominance at StubHub Center where they have not loss since their home opener on March 8th. Minutes after Juninho rang a shot off the crossbar, the Galaxy found the back of the net as Keane scored in the 22nd minute after a one-two combination pass from Marcelo Sarvas.

Although Toronto seemed to be the team in need of a victory to keep up with Columbus for the final spot in the Eastern Conference, they came out uninspired and never threatened until late in the game.

Even then Toronto never seemed to be close to cracking the back four of Los Angeles.

The Galaxy finished a complete night with a exclamation point as Alan Gordon beat Joe Bednik in stoppage time
