Northwest Division Defensive Coordinator of The Year 2014: Nipomo’s Jay T. Wells

The defense at Nipomo was great, but the pick of Jay Wells we have isn't. We'll take a new one, in the meantime congrats.

In terms of points Nipomo had the third highest scoring offense and the defense eighth overall in fewest points allowed. So why are we going with the defense, because this is the defense that stopped Arrowhead Christian to win the title.

Jay Wells’ unit held four opponents to under ten points, pitched two shutouts, and in four post-season game created 19 take aways. Then in Week Ten Arrowhead Christian scored 65 points and followed that with CIF scores of 48, 43, and 40 against Cantwell, Maranatha, and Templeton respectively. The Titans defense held them to just 19 in the title game.

For all of this the young Mr. Wells is our defensive coordinator of the year.
