1. Ohio State survives four turnovers to win the NCAA Championship game, 42-20 over Oregon.

2. John Fox is out as Denver Broncos head coach, linked to Chicago Bears job.

3. Gene Steratore was involved in the Calvin Johnson non-touchdown call that led to the “Calvin Johnson rule”. It occurred again on Dez Bryant’s non-catch.

4. The Anaheim Ducks will be purchasing the Norfolk (VA) Admirals of the AHL and relocating to San Diego in an attempt to start an AHL West Division. Los Angeles, Edmonton, Calgary, San Jose are all linked to relocating existing franchises to California as well.

5. Kevin Garnett gets one-game suspension for head-butting Dwight Howard.

6. Gabrielino Girls’ basketball is 14-2 (3-0) and outscoring Mission Valley League opponents 55-36.

7. On this day in 1986, the NCAA adopted “Proposal 48” setting the standards for Division 1 freshman eligibility.

8. Pasadena Boys’ basketball has begun Pacific league play 3-1, Muir currently leads the league at 3-0.

9. Five years ago today, the Los Angeles Lakers became the first team in NBA history to win 3,000 games after defeating the Dallas Mavericks.

10. “He has been going spastic all game” – Texas A&M analyst Mike Caruso after watching Kentucky’s John Calipari complain numerous times about the game clock during their double-overtime win over the Aggies.
