1. The Oakland Raiders hire Denver DC Jack Del Rio as their head coach.

2. Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota declares his eligibility for the NFL Draft.

3. The San Francisco 49ers name line coach Jim Tomsula head coach.

4. Former USC basketball coach Bob Boyd dies at 84. Boyd coached at USC from 1967 to 1979. In 1971 the Trojans were 24-2 overall and ranked number five in the country at one point.

5. Norman Powell scores 22 points to lead UCLA to an 83-66 win over USC.

6. The Lakers consider shutting Kobe Bryant down after the All-Star break.

7. Dodger catcher A.J. Ellis agrees to one-year, $4.25 million contract.

8. The Chicago Bears interview former Denver HC John Fox for their head coach position.

9. On this day in 1967 the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 in Super Bowl I at the Coliseum. Bart Starr is named MVP.

10. Happy Birthday to New Orleans Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees who turns 36 today.
