UCLA defensive lineman Ellis McCarthy, who graduated from Monrovia in 2012, has decided to forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft McCarthy announced on Twitter.

“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, the UCLA program and most importantly the fans for their support. After careful consideration and prayer, I’ve decided that I’m going to forgo my senior year and enter the 2015 NFL draft. This was an extremely difficult decision but it’s best for my family and myself. I will always be grateful for the opportunities the Bruin Nation has presented me athletically and academically. Thank you all and Go Bruins!” McCarthy posted on his Twitter feed.

McCarthy, 6-5, 325, did not start any games this past season and started eight games in his three years with the Bruins, all in 2013. McCarthy, who has struggled with knee injuries during his college career, was backing up sophomores Kenny Clark and Eddie Vanderdoes in 2014.
