Here are the game recaps for all four games at the La Canada Girls Basketball Tournament.
CANYON 60 vs. LA SALLE 48
The Cowboys (9-3) took advantage of untimely miscues by the Lancers (7-2) late in the fourth quarter to survive a potential upset in their first game in the tournament.
Canyon was led by Brooke Lemar’s 17 points. Lemar also had two key assists in the fourth quarter that ensured the victory.
With La Salle threatening to get even at 48 with less than four minutes to play, Amber Evans buried a three-pointer that would put the game away for the Cowboys.
Itos Aikhionbare led the Lancers with 21 game-high points.
SERRA 64 vs. FSHA 19
The Cavaliers a high-pressured defense to disrupt the Tologs early to jump out to a 22-8 lead to cruise to an easy victory.
Raven Gammage scored 13 of her 19 game-high points in the first half.
Serra was able to blow the game wide-open in the second quarter when going on a 29-7 to run that went from the beginning of the second quarter to the fourth quarter.
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy was led by Olivia Warner with eight points.
LA CANADA 47 vs. BURBANK 27
The Lady Spartans were able to limit the Bulldogs to six-first half point’s enroute to a Pool A win.
La Canada’s Courtney McCutchan scored 10 points in the first quarter and finished with a game-high 15.
Burbank was never able to get on track on offense as they were unable to score more than nine points in a quarter.
Evelyn Abrami was able to lead the Bulldogs with eight points in the loss.
FLINTRIDGE PREP 41 vs. KEPPEL 36
The Rebels staged an incredible upset of defending Almont League champion Aztecs as they battled to a Pool D win.
Deanna Watson was able to break a 34-34 deadlock with a three-pointer from the top of the key and Flintridge Prep’s defense held Keppel to four points in the fourth quarter to come from behind in the final quarter.
The Aztecs had a 34-29 lead before getting outscored 11-2 with less than five minutes to play in the game.
Watson led the Rebels with 15 points with 10 coming in the fourth quarter. Keppel was led by Alyson Lock and Bryttne Nakamura with 12 points.
