The TEN

(“The Ten” is not a top ten, but ten items worth being included in The TEN)

.) “As much as we want to say everyone is united, half the team and coaches—black and white—are pissed. If we were 9-0, this wouldn’t be happening.”—Missouri Tigers football player, who wished to remain anonymous, to ESPN.

.) Arroyo HC, Jim Singiser in thirteen seasons has coached 130 regular season games and eighteen playoff games, but he’s never coached a game against tonight’s CIF opponent, Covina. The schools have met four times (1990-1993) with the Knights holding a 3-1 all-time advantage. Arroyo won the last two games by a combined score of 68-0.

.) Miami Marlins’ National League batting champion and stolen base leader for 2015, Dee Gordon, has been awarded a Gold Glove for his work at second base this past season.

.) Diamond Ranch faces San Marino tonight for the first time ever in football.

.) The Los Angeles Angels acquire Andrelton Simmons from the Atlanta Braves for Erick Aybar and two prospects (Sean Newcomb & Chris Ellis).

.) For Thursday night’s NFL game the Buffalo Bills wore all red for the first time in franchise history. The New York Jets wore all green. Color blind people complain. Buffalo wins 22-17.

.) On this date in 2009 Burbank’s Ulises Ochoa rushes for 162 yards on 24 carries. Burroughs’ Dalton Williams rushes 217 yards. Ochoa’s two-yard plunge in the final seconds, however, gives the Bulldogs a 28-21 win.

.) “Motivation is simple. Eliminate players who aren’t motivated.” – Lou Holtz.

.) “Football is a fickle b**** (rhymes with witch.) Nothing is given and everything is earned. If you don’t want to earn it everyday then you are better off playing checkers. Heard that voice (Papa Singiser) ringing through my headset on more occasions than I care to remember this year. Lesson to the younger Knights.”- Arroyo HC, Jim Singiser via Facebook.

.) The Los Angeles Lakers are 1-7.
