Chargers Won’t Be Denied

(Glendora) – On September 25, 2015 Charter Oak dominated Glendora handing the Tartans their only loss of the season, 28-7. Nine weeks later, a rematch with championship implications on the line took place in front of a passionate crowd on hand at Citrus College. In the end, it was the Chargers (12-1) who showed their mettle and fought to a 28-14 win over the Tartans (11-2).

Glendora raced out to an early lead in the first quarter behind a Griffen Herrera 2 yard run, 7-0. With 11:50 left in the second USC bound Matt Fink went untouched for a 55 yard touchdown to put the Tartans up 14-0. From the Charger sideline no sense of panic set in; only a realization this was a playoff game and the Tartans “Showed Up.” With 7:17 left in the half, Charger quarterback Kamden Brown connected on a 9 yard strike to cut the Tartans led 14-7.

Often the great teams make the necessary adjustments to win games. This couldn’t be truer for the Chargers. Charter Oak would not be denied and completely dominated the second half. Glendora’s offense was held in check and shut out as the Chargers scored 21 unanswered to secure the win 28-14.

    • ·         Late in the fourth quarter driving to tie the game at 21, Glendora’s Fink was called for a sportsman like conduct penalty which pushed the Tartans back to their own 10. The penalty stalled the Tartans drive and put an end to their season.
