1. Russell Westbrook makes what UCLA calls the largest financial contribution ever by a former Bruins basketball to the school.

2. Johnny Cueto signs a six-year, $130 million deal with the San Francisco Giants.

3. The LA Galaxy acquire goalkeeper Dan Kennedy from FC Dallas.

4. New England Patriots running back LaGarrette Blount is out for the season with a hip injury.

5. Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls is out for the year with a broken ankle.

6. Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is third in the NFL in touchdown passes with 30, behind Tom Brady (33) and Carson Palmer (31).

7. NBA official Bill Kennedy comes out as gay after Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo used a gay slur at Kennedy during a game against the Boston Celtics in Mexico City on December 3. Rondo, who has since issued an apology, was given a one-game suspension by the league.

8. San Marino receiver J.P. Shohfi has had preliminary offers from Yale and the University of San Diego according to 247sports.com.

9. On this day in 1979 Roger Staubach played his last regular season game with the Dallas Cowboys.
