1. On this day in 1980 the United States beat the USSR 4-3 at the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York in the “Miracle On Ice”.

2. The LA Galaxy will take on Santo Laguna from the Mexican League in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals Wednesday night at the Stubhub Center.

3. Gabrielino will take on Chaminade Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at Chaminade.

4. Julius “Dr. J” Erving turns 66 today.

5. The Dodgers sign Cuban RHP Yasiel Sierra to a six-year $30 million contract.

6. The La Canada Lady Spartans will host Luezinger Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.

7. The Anaheim Ducks have won eight of their last ten games and are now two points behind the first place Kings.

8. Former Dallas Cowboy running back Joseph Randle was arrested  for allegedly hitting three people with a car then breaking through the front door of a home where he was asked to leave.

9. Denny Hamlin wins the 2016 Daytona 500 in the closest finish in the race’s 58 year history.
