Lady Aztecs get on the Boards

(Keppel HS) – The Keppel girls out rebounded Montebello 45-27 and nabbed 23 steals on the way to a 61-33 rout of the Lady Oilers Tuesday in Almont League action.

  Keppel, (6-10, 3-0), remained perfect in the Almont through the leadership of freshman post Alyson Lock’s 21 points. Another frosh, Leslie Tan, contributed another 7 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

  Senior guard Camy Amimoto ripped 6 of her game high 9 steals in the first quarter as the Lady Aztecs raced to a 16-5 lead early. When the dust had finally settled, seven Lady Keppel players had at least two steals.

  Senior forward Elise Machado tossed 5 of 7 shots through the hoop underneath for 10 points.

  Desiree Cerda and Candice Garcia kept Montebello in contention early, combining for 13 of the teams’ 19 first half points before finishing with 12 and 6 points, respectively.  

  Alexis Perez hit three free throws with nine caroms, and Amber Munoz scored another 8 for the Oilers.
